Project Description

‘How to find out about what your local area was like in Victorian times’

Engaging young people and families in historical enquiry

A set of videos to be used as part of integrated learning journeys on the V&A website to support historical enquiry in primary schools.

Requirements

To produce a video based module that would encourage and help model historical enquiry and to:

·  Form an integral part of the V&A website for the Victorians

·   Compliment and extend the existing online learning provision

·   Provide a stepping stone to encourage users to carry out their own enquires in their local area

·   Be able to standalone for those who had not engaged in the online e-modules

We worked closely with the education teams from the V&A and The National Archives, together with Ben Verrall the Creative Lead on behalf of the Attic Media team.

Key features and considerations

Focus on evidence that young people and families could genuinely access first hand – Create modules that  would show teachers and pupils, how they could; structure an enquiry, find sources, spot patterns, follow leads, speculate, make connections, reveal stories, share ideas and draw on lessons from the past.
